Jodie H. Dunn: ‘I Belong In Hell’

Pop

Young, but super-talented singer-songwriter Jodie H. Dunn has transformed her emotional ballad ‘I Belong In Hell’ into an expertly crafted dark pop track with the help of producer Andy Whitmore at Greystoke studios.

Jodie is on her way up now that she has produced her first professionally recorded track, but it hasn’t always been easy for her. She signed to an unknown label who ended up giving her big issues; they even tried to fine her family over a contract dispute. At a young age, you can see how this might have put Jodie off making music, but she has remained resolute, even through tougher challenges.

During her school years, Jodie was subjected to severe cases of bullying which escalated so seriously, she was forced to move schools during her exams. In lieu of this, songwriting has always acted as a release for Jodie. From a young age she would sing in the garden and the playground, then evolving her passion as she got older towards creating her own compositions.

However, the bullying then developed onto social media, giving Jodie no real escape. After studying at the Academy of Music and Sound, music became Jodie’s diary whereby she expressed her emotions via her lyrics. Her songs have progressively got more meaningful, leading to ‘I Belong In Hell’ based on the idea of someone controlling you at your lowest point.

‘I Belong In Hell’ was written and performed by Jodie H Dunn and produced by Andy Whitmore, who has worked with major names such as Elton John, Peter Andre and Danni Minogue.

‘Home’ by James Kennedy

Alternative, Rock

James Kennedy is a hugely experienced musician having formerly fronted Welsh hardcore-rock band, Kyshera, and now he is transferring these talents to working on his own solo material.

Unfortunately for James, he encountered problems after touring all over Europe with Kyshera as he began to suffer from depression. Yet on the bright side, James turned to his passion for songwriting and music as a way of relieving his depression and this process has formed his new introspective album, ‘Home’. Evidently, from the name of the record, James is in a much better place now and this is reflected through the new songs.

Although Kyshera had a very distinct brand of aggressive alt-rock, James has re-directed his style as a solo artist to a more signer-songwriter rock sound. There are still elements of classic rock, including heavy guitars and solos, but he has also employed some killer hooks that make for a particularly catchy form of a seemingly dying genre.

The entirely self taught musician was attended the Welsh College of Music & Drama where he developed his musical talents, before working in a recording studio. James then used the skills he had learnt to form his own label, Konic Records.

Titled the 32nd sexiest man in Wales, James Kennedy doesn’t just have soulful, raspy vocals and a dynamic performance style. Drawing similarities with Prince, The Script and Paolo Nutini, Home reflects Kennedy’s journey of depression from dark to light.

Home is out on 31st March 2017.

I’m No Barbie / One Way Or Another, the new AA side single by Laura Comfort

Uncategorized

Right Recordings is delighted to announce the release of I’m No Barbie / One Way Or Another, the new AA side single by Laura Comfort. I’m No Barbie is taken from Laura’s outstanding new album Don’t Ignore Me, whilst One Way Or Another is a reworking of the classic Blondie track. The release follows the success of her previous single Come Take A Ride, which reached Number 18 in the UK Club Charts.

Both tracks on the new AA side single were recorded with the talented guitarist, Koe Naiche. Koe was discovered and nurtured by the music industry legend Dave Most of RAC Records and has worked alongside Eric Clapton, and with the legendary producer/engineer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones). His American Indian heritage and commanding stage presence perfectly compliment Laura.

Laura recently collaborated with the acclaimed producer John Ryan (Santana, Styx, Lynyrd Skynyrd) on her latest album Don’t Ignore Me. Laura’s unique voice, song-writing talent and striking looks have catapulted her into the spotlight. Originally from New York, but now a confirmed Londoner, she began singing from an early age in school choirs and a cappella goups before joining a successful band in college, leading to an East Coast tour of the USA and early TV appearances.

After moving to London she began playing guitar, and hit the singer-songwriter scene, performing in many of London’s live venues including Ronnie Scott’s Bar, the Groucho Club and the Arts Club in Mayfair. She then hit the charts, with her first release Let the Music Take Control reaching the Top 30 in the Music Week Pop Chart, and Top 10 in the UK Club Chart, championed by BBC Radio 1. Her follow up singles, Can’t Get Enough, Mountain and Addicted were equally successful, receiving rave reviews and airplay across UK and Europe. Now with a more organic rock ’n’ roll sound, Laura is poised to storm the charts again.
