Les Kirsh: ‘Tell Me To My Face’

Pop, Rock, Soul

If you’ve always been a bit of a soul fan, but are disappointed that the genre has seemingly died, then don’t despair as 70s soul-man Les Kirsh has resurrected his singing career with 3 re-mastered singles, which he self-categorises under his own label of ‘modern-soul’.

Consequently, there are a few other elements from other genres mixed in there, from pop, rock and even a little bit of dance, but as always with Les, soul is at the heart of play.

Back in the 70s, Les’ career was stopped in its tracks by a terrible car crash and it is only now that he is returning to his glory days.

‘A Film We All Saw’- Adam Lanceley

Pop, Rock

Taken from his upcoming EP, Back To The Sunshine, ‘A Film We All Saw’ shows Adam at his very best: lilting guitar lines, punchy vocals and an unequivocally summery feel.

Whilst that ‘West Coast’ vibe has always been a part of Adam’s style, it is best represented on the new track with the laid-back tone of the guitar.

Having previously released 5 albums, Adam is a prolific songwriter, always wanting to pen his feelings down through the medium of music. Now, with his latest EP, he is donating all proceeds to the Brain and Spine Foundation – a charity that means an awful lot to Adam as he sustained severe head injuries at a young age in a car crash. Since then, he has gone on to run the London Marathon in aid of the charity.

Corinna Jane: ‘Echoes of My Mind’

Pop, Rock

‘Echoes of My Mind’ is the new single from Corinna Jane, a talented young singer-songwriter based in Northampton.

Having grown up in the MTV generation where all kinds of music was easily accessible to young people, Corinna has developed her own unique style amongst the saturated state of popular music. This is something Corinna feels strongly about, the fact that pop music seems to have lost its melody and so she combats this by writing a style of pop-rock that is led by her killer vocals and traditional, yet well crafted instrumentation.

There’s no sound effects or samples here – Corinna is all about proper music and helping people remember what this really is.

‘Echoes of My Mind’ contrasts in nature to her previous release, ‘Three Faces of You’, exhibiting a much more stripped back Corinna with her vocals and the piano playing the starring role. It’s a track with a dark ambience to it, reflecting on the end of a previous relationship, consequently displaying a very personal experience of Corinna’s that makes for quality songwriting.

‘Home’ by James Kennedy

Alternative, Rock

James Kennedy is a hugely experienced musician having formerly fronted Welsh hardcore-rock band, Kyshera, and now he is transferring these talents to working on his own solo material.

Unfortunately for James, he encountered problems after touring all over Europe with Kyshera as he began to suffer from depression. Yet on the bright side, James turned to his passion for songwriting and music as a way of relieving his depression and this process has formed his new introspective album, ‘Home’. Evidently, from the name of the record, James is in a much better place now and this is reflected through the new songs.

Although Kyshera had a very distinct brand of aggressive alt-rock, James has re-directed his style as a solo artist to a more signer-songwriter rock sound. There are still elements of classic rock, including heavy guitars and solos, but he has also employed some killer hooks that make for a particularly catchy form of a seemingly dying genre.

The entirely self taught musician was attended the Welsh College of Music & Drama where he developed his musical talents, before working in a recording studio. James then used the skills he had learnt to form his own label, Konic Records.

Titled the 32nd sexiest man in Wales, James Kennedy doesn’t just have soulful, raspy vocals and a dynamic performance style. Drawing similarities with Prince, The Script and Paolo Nutini, Home reflects Kennedy’s journey of depression from dark to light.

Home is out on 31st March 2017.

INJIN Releases ‘Tennessee’

Alternative, Folk, Rock

INJIN is clearly no stranger to the world of rock’n’roll, having performed in a number of bands and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Santana’s band and even Jimi Hendrix’s drummer. Using this experience that he has accumulated over the years, the talented songwriter is back with his own work and the new track, ‘Tennessee’.

Chanelling an 80s synth-rock style for ‘Tennesseee’, INJIN is reigniting a retro sound for the modern day which is sure to appeal to a wide audience. A difficult childhood has influenced his songwriting in a big way which aims to diverge from the ‘conveyor belt’ material that is constantly churned out in the music industry.

The track is accompanied by a visually stunning and picturesque video, featuring INJIN himself wandering the landscape of the countryside, seemingly in search of something, but what exactly is not clear.

During his youth, at the age of around 7, INJIN mysteriously stopped growing which led to some difficult formative years for him. Fortunately, he was one of a select few chosen for ground breaking treatment that managed to cure him.

INJIN’s difficult past gave him the knowledge and experience he needed and he soon grew in confidence to push musical boundaries by re-arranging songs from the likes of Pink Floyd, Ten Years After and Deep Purple with his cover band Ruby Spoon. I N J I N took the name Ruby Spoon to America where he began to embrace the rock lifestyle and his powerful vocals helped him gain a strong following.

INJIN is a believer that music has lost that personal touch that it once had, so his aim with ‘Tennessee’ was to bring back the emotive edge, using forgotten instruments that blend beautifully with his raw vocals. Exploring different moods with a late 1800, early 1900s sound, I N J I N’s music has a mystical haunting sound, marrying pacific wind instruments with electric guitars.

Symphonic Rock from Bayonesse

Alternative, Experimental, Rock

Bayonesse is the musical vehicle of artist and singer, Christy Lee Rogers, and Ryan Murphy. The duo create hauntingly beautiful rock music, with an epic feel and quality musicianship.

The duo have shifted their passions from art to music after realising it is the most “powerful and intense” art form in which to express their thoughts, whilst finding peace and understanding within the chaos of society. The alternative single ‘Angel Touching Down’ from their upcoming album, Bleeding Heart, will be released alongside a dark and mysterious underwater music video.

The video stars actress Elisabeth Donaldson and Bayonesse themselves and was edited by award winning filmmaker Ray Izad-Mehr. The video provides the perfect visuals tot the feel of the music and it displays the underlying darkness in their heart-felt lyrics.

Rogers’ powerful passion for music always controlled her art and she soon found that it was the most effective way to express her thoughts. By early 2016 Rogers joined Murphy to form Bayonesse and with their clash of musical influences from Bjork to The Kills, they have formed a unique and unusual sound that brings something  slightly left-field to the table.
