Vispa steps back in time for retro synth-esque ‘Cosmic Force’

Dance, Disco/Techno, Electronica, Synth-Pop

It’s not often that you get to hear music coming from Iran, but it’s a refreshing change to see what’s happening musically in other parts of the world as electronic artist, Vispa, drops his retro-infused dance track, ‘Cosmic Force’.

You wouldn’t be blamed for thinking that ‘Cosmic Force’ is straight out of an 80s video game with its pulsating drum beat, resonating synths and sense of tension building. But this is perhaps the best part of Vispa’s music; his ability to draw on style of old and bring them into the modern day.

Not only this, but there’s certainly a dance factor to his music, made all the better with the expertly timed drops and changes in instrumentation throughout the track.

However, much like ‘Cosmic Force’ is a true space-explorer of a track, Vispa is an explorer of music himself, constantly experimenting with genre and sound to gain more ideas for his new material.

Categorising his sound under the sub-genres of ‘synth-pop’, ‘space music’ and ‘electro-orchestral’, Vispa finds inspiration from all over the musical world, taking influence from other notable artists such as classical legend Hans Zimmer, Tangerine Dream, Depeche Mode and synth icons, The Pet Shop Boys.

Kids on Bridges featuring Zigaboo Modeliste

Alternative, Electronica, Funk, Pop

This has to be one of the strangest collaborations on paper, but it really works! The electro synths of Liverpool’s Kids On Bridges meets the New Orleans Funk of Zigaboo Modeliste from legendary band The Meters, producing ‘Say Ok‘, a perfect feel good summer track.

Described as Beck meets Prince and so fresh you could eat it, the track has already had 88000 plays on Spotify thanks to Kids on Bridges’ growing reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging bands through their top 25 iTunes hit ‘Something in the Water‘ and Hype Machine Number 1 ‘When The Needle Drops‘.

This unlikely but inspired collaboration came about when Zigaboo and Kids on Bridges singer Christian Bragg first met at a Jazz Festival in New Orleans; their subsequent bonding over a mutal love of funk and electro was further bolstered by Christian’s love of all things New Orleans. Kids on Bridges were invited to remix two tracks on Zigaboo’s EP ‘New Life’ and his appearance on ‘Say OK’ was a natural progression.

Kids on Bridges have headlined two shows at legendery New Orleans venue Tipitinas, appeared at MOM’s Halloween Ball and Christian DJ’d at The Meters reunion gig at the Howling Wolf. The growing connection between the two bands led Kids on Bridges to join Zigaboo for a jam session in London where ‘Say OK’ was born.

Kids on Bridges’ New Orleans Connection continues to grow; they’ve supported The Hot 8 Brass Band, worked with New Orleans poet Chuck Perkins and the Grammy nominated singer Ledisi. The have also opened for Friendly Fires, Soulwax, 2ManyDJs and LCD Sound System as well as representing the UK at The Special Olympics alongside Stevie Wonder and Beck.

Andrea Di Giovanni returns with new emotionally-driven pop single ‘Hold Me Once More’ and new EP Soultrip

Alternative, Electronica, Pop, Uncategorized

21-year-old Italian-born pop singer Andrea Di Giovanni delivers another fun and equally heart-wrenching single straight off his new EP Soultrip.

Listen to the track:  https://soundcloud.com/andrea-di-giovanni-2/hold-me-once-more-explicit-teaser-andrea-di-giovanni

As the singer explains: ‘Hold Me Once More’ is the first song I ever wrote in English, 3 years ago. It talks about the relationship between me and my dad during my childhood and the lack of love and communication I perceived within it.

In the lyrics of this tune I am quite straight forward, telling him what I have been through, which I never had the courage to do in person.

The single follows Andrea’s previous emotive electro-pop single ‘I’ll Take Care of Myself’.

Both tracks will appear on the singer’s new EP Soultrip, which tackles an array of personal topics such as Andrea’s relationship with his father, exploring his bisexuality, as well as overcoming his experiences with vitiligo.

As the title explains’ states Andrea, ‘it’s a journey into the deepest corners of my soul, starting with the relationship with my dad, going into the very first time I fell in love with a guy, to my first experience in a gay relationship to the relationship with my ex best friend (actual girlfriend now). The progression of concepts for the EP is: absence, lust, apathy, awareness and resolution.

‘Hold Me Once More’ is set for release on June 15th followed by Soultrip EP on July 15th
